Attention, all funnybook fans! If you aren't reading The Savage Dragon (and judging by the sales, you aren't), you are missing out on an UNBELIEVABLY fun book. This book never disappoints, month in and month out, full of excellent art, believable dialogue and, most important of all, constant plot twists! Erik Larsen's title character goes through the wringer every thirty days, whether it be his return to the police force (which didn't end exactly the way long-time fans thought it would) or his search for his kidnapped kids (anyone with kids or who'd at some point like to have them understands his single-minded drive to get them back). Yet somehow Larsen keeps the book fun, running at a break-neck speed while allowing for character expostion along the way. Longtime fans are constantly rewarded issue by issue, yet new fans are filled in quickly (ironically, poor sales result in a "perfect jumping-on point for new readers"  every 6-12 months). In all honesty, Image could probably afford to publish this book forever because if it ever got to a point, Erik Larsen would spend his own dinero to get this book to print 'till the money ran out. This book is better than that. This book deserves to be talked about in the same way Cerebus, Preacher, Starman, Sandman, Usagi Yojimbo and Strangers In Paradise are viewed, as a book that is never short on ideas, and while it may be more mainstream than the books I've mentioned, it's more entertaining than 90% of the crap we all still buy from Marvel. Read Savage Dragon!
